S.M. Components Cements Relationship with Quinn Building Products

S.M. Components has supplied and installed Gardner Denver TR20 screw compressors to six Mercedes Benz Actros 2445 tractor units for Fermanagh-based Quinn Building Products, which will be used for the discharge of bulk cement.

According to Brian McManus, Transport Manager for Quinn Building Products, the company expects to achieve a more efficient way of discharging cement with the new equipment as well as reduced environmental impact. The manufacturer of construction materials will also benefit from increased carrying capacity due to the lower weight of the blower compared with that of a conventional cement tanker and ‘donkey’ engine.

Construction is one of the largest industries served by Gardner Denver and the TR20 screw compressor is the latest machine to be developed for unloading of bulk products.

Interview with Brian McManus, Transport Manager, Quinn Building Products

1) Why did you choose S.M. Components for your bulk discharge equipment needs?

We chose S.M. Components this time around as they have previously provided us with high quality products. This time they were offering a product which was highly recommended within the industry as well as great service and value.

2) How did you find dealing with the S.M. Components Team?

The product was well known industry wide for its excellent quality which is a top priority for us. S.M. Components were able to meet our timescale to get the blowers fitted and on the road in a short space of time. Both Seamus and Terry were very knowledgeable and had answers to all of my questions and the workmanship was excellent.

3) Did S.M. Components solve any challenges for you?

I found S.M. Components very easy to deal with. We previously bought combined hydraulic/fuel tipping tanks which were well made; however, we did find in some delivery sites that the depth of the tanks caused minor access problems. This time around the guys at S.M. were able to modify the tanks at my request to provide that little bit of extra ground clearance which solved our problem. This was one of the things that I believe shows that S.M. Components’ are interested in providing their expertise every bit as much as selling their products.
